Daily writing promptYou’re writing your autobiography. What’s your opening sentence?It all started on a brutally cold but sunny morning. There was a fresh dusting of snow on the ground that fell on the city over night. The sunshine reflected on the snow to create a bright, blinding light.
It was the peak of bitter, upper midwestern winter cold. It was the peak of the disco era. It was the peak of American automobile manufacturing in Detroit, The Motor City, also known as the Murder Capital of the World at the time. It was the cusp of Black American prosperity and opportunity. In comparison to the sharecropping family mom grew up in the winter baby’s future was full of promise.

RIP Angie Stone 🕊️❤️🎶💐
Neo Soul singer Angie Stone died in a car wreck in Montgomery County, Alabama on March 1. Angie was leaving a performance date in Mobile, Alabama and was heading to her next date in Atlanta, GA when she got into the crash. There were nine people in the car. Angie was the only passenger that died.
She was sixty three years old. I really enjoy Angie’s music. The Neo Soul era of the early 2000s is one of my favorite musical eras and Angie was a part of that. Angie also appeared on a season of “Celebrity Fit Club”. in 2006 “Celebrity Fit Club” was a reality show about celebrities losing weight at a fitness boot camp. Ms. Stone was also a song writer and penned the theme song for the theme song to the TV sit com “Girlfriends”. Angie has a son and a daughter. Her son’s father is soul singer D’Angelo.

Yes. I think some things are destiny and/or devine intervention but not everything. I think personal choices and self determination is a more common factor in our circumstances. Following Christ is a major personal choice and influence.
