I think the answer is “Hardball”. Keanu Reeves played a youth baseball coach from Chicago. This movie came out in 2001 and I saw it at the theater. I remember walking out and the people that worked at the theater were waiting to come in and clean the theater. One said to the other “Everyone is crying”. We were a wreck.
