Feminist activist Gloria Steinem died at ninety two years old on September 2, 2026. My condolences to her friends, family and admirers. Gloria Steinem was a social and political activist and someone that had been in the public eye my entire life. I’m ambivalent to Gloria Steinem and the feminist movement overall. I have criticisms of the feminist movement and I think it caused some problems. Feminism has caused some extremes and delusions that don’t benefit women.
This post is about two current examples of feminist failure. The timing of Gloria Steinem’s death is ironic. Modern era feminists are showing their behinds, being extremely weird and being made into fools publicly.
Feminist activists are outside rallying in support of a woman named Lindsay Clancy who murdered her three children while her husband went out to run a few errands. He went to CVS and to get a carry out for the family’s dinner. Mrs. Clancy strangled her three young children to death and then jumped out of a window. She is now paralyzed and wheelchair bound. Mrs. Clancy has become a feminist heroine. I don’t know why.
They say Mrs. Clancey’s actions were due to post partum psychosis but still, of all the women and women’s issues they can choose to support why is this what they made matching t shirts about? I would think that their feminist advocacy and support could go to under privileged women or women in countries that have no rights. They could raise money for women’s scholarships, small businesses or for women needing to reestablish their lives after leaving a marriage. They can praise women that accomplish things and serve others. Instead they color coordinate outfits for a woman that went crazy and killed her children. I’m unsure what they want and what the long term goal is.

A man scammed women out of millions of dollars. He contacted them on social media apps like Instagram. This was a romance scam. Ironically, in these post feminist times the dream of having a well to do significant other is what made these women the victim of a scam. They thought because he was a relatively young (35), relatively healthy (not overweight) Black man that he had potential to play pro sports.
I watch sports so I would have known that man was scamming immediately. His head shot didn’t even look right. He posted videos of himself running pretend practice drills. I’m a woman in my fifties who has never participated in organized sports but I’m pretty sure that I could have done those exercises as well if not better than he did.
The fake baller had an eighteen year old partner in crime who posed as a financial advisor. This is why women use to not be allowed to have bank accounts and credit cards. Feminists are fond of saying dismantle the patriarchy but a lot of them obviously need some patriarchy. Where are their dads, grand dads, uncles, nephews, brothers, a pastor, male friends, acquaintances, male co workers or men in the family group chat? Most men would have put lid on this immediately.

FYI to non sports fans. Pro sport franchises list their rosters on line. Everyone on the team is on the website. The 49ers are a big deal and their website is easy to find. I think these women were enthralled by the idea of being a rich pro athlete’s girl friend that they became overly anxious to buy in to the fantasy. This is ironic for our post feminism era.
A man playing on the 49ers doesn’t need your help. No potential suitor needs a woman’s help regardless of his occupation.
Men’s occupations pay more. Men in female dominated work forces still make more because they are likely to be in a leadership role.
Financial matters use to come out in the wash because there was an expectation that men provide a financial foundation. But somehow women have got it in their heads that they should help men financially even if he plays for the 49ers. The balance is gone and it favors men whether they are scamming or not.
Feminism is supposed to be empowering for women but it made women vulnerable in many ways. Romance scams would have been inconceivable years ago because women didn’t even go Dutch on dates.
I bet Gloria Steinem observed some of this nonsense, rolled over and gave up. I kind of feel bad for her. She tried to help.
FYI-Please don’t misunderstand me. I voted for Hillary Clinton and Kamala Harris for president. I voted for women as governor for Missouri twice. (They all lost.)
