What’s the longest book you’ve ever read?

I had to give this some thought. Aside from the Bible I think the longest book I’ve read is “Queen: Story of an American Family” by Alex Hailey. I read it after watching the mini series on TV in 1993. It was the first movie I saw with Halle Berry. I thought she was super pretty but miscast. The character Queen was a “White passing” and I wouldn’t describe Halle Berry that way.
The story is about a White passing woman who lived in the antebellum south and all her fun adventures. (sarcasm) The people in the story were Alex Hailey’s ancestors. “Queen…” is the sequel to “Roots”.
One of these days I plan to read “Roots” even though I think people took that book too literally. If it reads like “Queen: Story of an American Family” there is no way Alex Hailey knew all that. He knew a few facts, probably just names and deeds but leaned heavily on artistic license which is totally OK. Alex had a great imagination. “Queen…” was a very good book.
