Macklemore: The Most Relatable Rapper

Macklemore is trending because of his support of Gaza. He is vocal about his support of Palestine. Macklemore was an opening act for pop music super star Ed Sheeran. Ed wants his tour to remain non political so he fired Macklemore from the tour. In response other opening acts and musicians have quit Ed Sheeran’s tour. It is what it is. They’re all entitled to their opinion.

It’s delusional for people to think that Ed Sheeran, his band and opening acts really have anything to do with peace in the middle east. Every US president since Carter has taken a stance on Israel and Palestine yet there is still war. Macklemore nor Ed Sheeran are going to make a difference.

The Macklemore issue reminded me of his hit song “Thrift Shop”. I didn’t know he had enough music for a concert even as an opening act. I like the song a lot and think it’s relatable. I have enjoyed a lot of hip hop music but I can’t say I relate to a lot of it on a first hand basis. But I’ve browsed many a thrift store rack. “Thrift Shop” is probably the most relatable rap song ever which makes Macklemore the most relatable rapper.

“Thrift Shop” is a catchy song about thrift store shopping. Making a hip hop song about something as mundane about browsing at the local thrift shop was very original and identifiable.

Thrift store shopping is not what is used to be but I still enjoy it from time to time. Here are a few of my thrift store finds.
