Question of the Day 9.22.25 – Finance 🏦🐖👛📦🪙💵💰

Many years ago I was watching “The Oprah Winfrey Show” and Oprah had a financial expert on the show. I think most financial advice is pure garbage but this worked. I can’t remember the financial advisor’s name. It wasn’t Suze Orman. The advisor said “Pay yourself first”. He said when you get paid put something away for yourself first even if it is a very small amount. He said save something before doing anything else. It didn’t matter if it was a 401k, savings account or an envelope in a desk. That was sound advice and it helped me learn to save money for rainy days, emergencies, vacations and possible retirement.
There was also an episode of MTV Cribs that featured Redman from Wu-Tang Clan. The episode was very memorable. He recommended keeping a dollar box. The dollar box was a shoe box filled with dollars that he kept in his kitchen. I have a version of a dollar box too and it has come in handy many times. I’ve used the money for small grocery store runs, to get gas, pay small bills and for pocket money when my bank account was running thin. I hope we never become a completely cashless society. It would be a big adjustment to not have a “dollar box”.

Question of the Day 9.18.25 🎶🎧

I would enjoy life a lot less without music. I find music I enjoy to be motivational and encouraging. I have childhood memories of watching “America’s Top 10” on TV with Casey Kasem and listening to the Rick Dees “Weekly Top 40” on the radio. There was a solid ten year block in my life when I could have told you the number on song in America.
There are songs take me back to a different time and place. They bring back memories of people and places from my past. Music brings people together and creates community. Music is always there.
I grew up in the 80s with the biggest pop stars and they still have a place in my heart. I’m nearly the same age as Hip Hop music and I remember it coming onto the scene. Nothing stirs my heart like hymns, Gospel and Christian Contemporary music. Music stirs emotions that day to day life does not.
“Me and my playlist against the world” is one of my favorite quotes.

Question of the Day 9.11.25 🚶🏿♀️🏞️
I walk six days a week. I have a walk built into my typical M-F week. I usually go for a walk in a park on the weekends for exercise, fresh air, sunshine and people watching.

Question of the Day 9.2.25 ☕📺📱🍽️🧼🪥🛌🏿😴
I ran out of sugar over the weekend. I need to go to the store and get some sugar for weekend coffee. I’ll probably get some snacks too. After that I’ll go home and watch some TV and/or scroll on my phone. I’ll have dinner. Then I’ll get ready for bed and go to sleep.

Everything Gets Gentrified

There are so many things that were commonly used, enjoyed and popularized by the working class, poor people and hippies. Affluent people and corporations lurk on social media and take on the trend. People with less money get their idea sold back to them at an increased price and are pushed out.
•tiny homes/trailer parks
•braids
•Birkenstocks
•Jordans
•discount retailers/thrifting
•micro weddings

There are You Tube channels created by women that seem to be affluent housewives that shop at Dollar Tree and thrift shops. I think they are some of the worst people on the internet. I blame them for price increases at these shops. I also blame local news reporters that wear braids on air for braids becoming more expensive. Jordans have always been expensive but now they are luxury items on the resale market. That started when young entrepreneurs and politicians started wearing them. Jordans can now be seen on the floor of our nation’s Capitol. Poor people and marginalized people get gentrified out of their own style and sub culture. Everything can not be geared towards affluent consumers in a functioning economy.
