Plant Care Turns People into Philosophers 🌱🌿🪴💭
I’ve been taking care of house plants for three or four years now. Last year I even put a few plants in the ground. Taking care of plants is interesting and a learning experience. Taking care of plants will turn anyone into a philosopher. Here are a few things I’ve learned.
• Proper nurturing creates growth. Give what you want to grow what it needs to thrive and let nature take it’s course. Doing to much can stifle growth.
• Growth requires the right environment and conditions. Different plants need different conditions for growth. Find the right environment for increase.
• Be attentive to what you want to see grow. If a gardener is attentive he or she can take action to improve outcomes.
• Education and good information is helpful when cultivate something. I’ve had to seek out information on plants to know how to care for them. Good information has been key.
• Learn from trial and error. I have a few successful plants and I’ve killed a few too. I’ve had to learn from mistakes.
• Doing too much can be detrimental. Over watering plants is as bad and possibly worse than not watering enough.
Plants I’ve had over the last few years. Half of these are dead now.

I had a country fried steak from a truck stop in Breezewood, PA in 1998 and never forgot about it. It was delicious. I’m a country fried steak connoisseur. That helping was the best.

Congratulations OKC Thunder!
Congratulations Oklahoma City Thunder. The Oklahoma City Thunder beat the Indiana Pacers in Game 7. The Playoffs was exciting. The games displayed a lot of young NBA talent, cities that haven’t been represented in post game basket ball much over the years. Many were small market teams. No one in the top four teams is an NBA superstar. The new face of the NBA is up for grabs.
The New York Knicks appeared in the Eastern Conference Finals. They were fun to watch because of their enthusiastic fans. Despite the Knicks having a large fan base in a big city I haven’t seen them have many successful seasons. Knicks games are mostly a place for celebrities to be seen. I’m glad their fans got to see them play well this year.
I don’t live in an NBA city so I adopted the Thunder as my hometown team. They use to come on in Kansas City with cable but unfortunately that is no longer the case due to licensing deals or something. The are never boring. Most Thunder games I watch are close and exciting to the very end.
The Thunder had their victory parade in Oklahoma City today. Reportedly, 500,000 people showed up. 200,000 showed up for the Army parade on Trump’s birthday. Ha ha. Good for them.

Misinformation About Young Harriet Tubman
I ran across this image of what was reported as a young photo of Harriet Tubman. This is not Harriet Tubman. This is Sarah Forbes Bonnetta. Sarah was a West African aristocrat that had close ties to Queen Victoria of the British royal family. I’m embarrassed and ashamed to say I was fooled too and I’m pretty sure I shared this image somewhere on the internet.

The question that needs to be examined is why. Why did someone feel the need to give this great American hero an image upgrade? Why did this freedom fighter need a makeover? I guess bravery and self sacrifice isn’t enough for a woman. It looks like you need to be cute and fashionable too. This is so embarrassing.
I learned of the misinformation about the photo of young Harriet Tubman through this article. I sought out this image while preparing to answer the prompt about my favorite historical figure. I fell for the upgraded image too even though it’s a fake. I feel like I want to cry right now. This article with a verified photo of young Harriet Tubman is still embarrassing. The article presents Harriet Tubman almost as a social climber and a woman preoccupied with fashion. Yikes! What are we doing. It’s all so shameful.
Harriet Tubman escaped slavery to freedom and returned south nineteen times to lead others to freedom on the Underground Railroad. Harriet Tubman was a spy and nurse in the US Army. She provided leadership to the Combahee River Raid that liberated seven hundred slaves in the middle of the Civil War. Tubman provided intelligence to the 2nd South Carolina Volunteer Infantry which was a Black regiment.
There is nothing wrong with being fashionable or socializing in elite circles however that shouldn’t be what a woman of Harriet Tubman’s magnitude should be known for. She was extraordinary in monumental ways that supersede the fashion trends of her times. I’m glad I ran across this article but I can’t believe they used the words self care in an article about a war hero that stood for freedom and equality. I reject this madness and stupidity. I admonish myself for being shallow and enamored with that picture of my favorite American hero. From here on out I will fix my mind on elderly Harriet Tubman.

What’s your favorite thing about yourself?
My personality. I’m reserved but have an outgoing nature. I enjoy people and new experiences. I’m energetic and I like to have fun. I have integrity.
I’m going to brag on myself a bit. I’m a gem and I’m old enough to know it. I’ve been tested many times. There have been some personal failures but I’m mostly proud of the way my heart and mind have responded to challenges and negativity. No one ever completely knows what I have been through. But I do and so does Jesus Christ. I owe everything to Christ. I think I would be completely different without Him, His word and the Holy Spirit.
