Lyric Analysis: Good Charlotte – Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous
“Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” was a TV show that ran from 1984-1995. It offered a glimpse into, you guessed it, the lives of the rich and famous. I remember watching it as a child. Here is a clip from the TV show from 1990 featuring Donald Trump and Michael Jackson. I believe “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous is where I came to know Donald Trump.

Matthew 6:24King James Version
24Â No man can serve two masters: for either he will hate the one, and love the other; or else he will hold to the one, and despise the other. Ye cannot serve God and mammon.
The band Good Charlotte released a song called “Lifestyle of the Rich and Famous in 2002”. The song and video are humorous and point out the privilege that comes with wealth and fame. The song references OJ Simpson who was accused of murdering his wife and found not guilty and Marion Barry who was the mayor of Washington DC, caught smoking crack cocaine on video and was reelected as mayor. He was elected as a Washington DC city council member after that and maintained a political career until he died.
Let’s analyze the song “Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous” from the lens of 2026. Americans elected a man that many of us were introduced to on a TV show about opulent wealth. He has numerous integrity issues and moral failings and maintains support. Donald Trump has been caught in many lies. He has been accused of sex crimes. Donald Trump’s election speaks to the morals, values, conscious and integrity of the United States. It also speaks volumes that Trump and his supporters consider themselves to be Christian.
Lifestyles of the Rich and Famous – Good Charlotte
Always see it on T.V.
Or read in the magazines
Celebrities they want sympathy
All they do is piss and moan
Inside the Rolling Stone
Talkin’ about how hard life can beI’d like to see them spend a week
Livin’ life out on the street
I don’t think they would survive
But they could spend a day or two
Walking in someone else’s shoes
I think they’d stumble and they’d fall
They would fall (fall)Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They’re always complainin’
Always complainin’
If money is such a problem
Well they got mansions
Think we should rob themWell did you know when you were famous you could kill your wife
And there’s no such thing as 25 to life
As long as you’ve got the cash, to pay for Cochran
And did you know if you were caught and you were smokin’ crack
McDonalds wouldn’t even want to take you back
You could always just run for mayor of D.C.I’d like to see them spend a week
Livin’ life out on the street
I don’t think they would survive
But they could spend a day or two
Walking in someone else’s shoes
I think they’d stumble and they’d fall
They would fallLifestyles of the rich and the famous
They’re always complainin’
Always complainin’
If money is such a problem
Well they got mansions
Think we should rob them (rob them)Lifestyles of the rich and the famous
They’re always complainin’
Always complainin’
If money is such a problem
You got so many problems
Think I could solve themLifestyles of the rich and the famous
We’ll take the clothes, cash, cars, and homes, just stop complainin’
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Lifestyles of the rich and famous
Lifestyles of the rich and famousTo put it simply judgement by man and consequences for actions is for some and not others. It seems that it’s the American dream to get away with as much as possible under the guise of social status and wealth.
“I can stand in the middle of Fifth Avenue and shoot somebody and I wouldn’t lose any voters. OK. It’s like incredible.” I think Trump and Good Charlotte are both correct in his assessment of American values.
Matthew 19:24King James Version
24Â And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.

Meg and Klay: Break up Songs ð§ðĒðð
Meg Thee Stallion and Klay Thompson ended their romance. I made a break up song playlist for Meg and Klay in memory of their high profile courtship.

Icebox Where My Heart Used to Be – Omarion
A little piece of your heart dies after being disappointed by others. I love this song.
You Should Have Told Me-Kelly Price
Kelly has doubts about her self worth after a break up. Disapointment and hurt feelings will make a person second guess themsleves.Â
Lately– KC and Jo Jo
I’m sure there were signs that the romance was doomed.
Linger-The Cranberries
Memories linger until they eventually fade. RIP Delore. You’re a legend. ðŪðŠðĪ
Toxic Till the End-Rosie
Meg is a seductive rapper and Klay has been in the NBA for over ten years.  The were probably toxic from the start so they were toxic till the end.
Not Gone Cry-Mary J. Blige
“I know there are no guarantees
In love you take your chances
But somehow it seems unfair to me
Look at the circumstances”Early in the Morning-The Gap Band
Meg said she will take a long break after her break up with Klay. She should give it about a month and get back out there. She’s not getting any younger and neither are the men. Here are words of encouragement from the Gap Band. It sounds like Klay already has someone else lined up.
I Will Survive-Gloria Gaynor
No conversation of songs about heartbreak is complete without this catchy disco era classic.
I hope you enjoy this playlist. Like MJB said, in love you take your chances.  It’s ok to be sad, disappointed and confused. Take time to sort those feelings out. Stay in the house. Listen to sad music. Look at old pictures. Throw crap away that reminds you of time you spent together. Delete texts and numbers from your phone. Then move on with your life.Â

Question of the Day 3.30.26ðĒ
If you could have something named after you, what would it be?
Nothing really but for the sake of this exercise I will say a cruise ship; or maybe a battle ship in the Navy.

Question of the Day 3.27.26 ðð·ðĪðΧðŠĶ
Daily writing promptHow have you adapted to the changes brought on by the Covid-19 pandemic? The COVID pandemic began during the first Trump Administration. Trump said it was a hoax and that it would go away on it’s own. He did next to nothing about COVID except start conspiracy theories and interfere with local and state governments that tried to slow the spread of the virus.
Global supply chains were interrupted. The economy slowed globally. Milestones like graduations were cancelled. American taxpayers were cheated by fraudulent PPP loans that were haphazardly established by the Trump Administration. People died. None of us had ever seen anything like it.
I will never forget any of this and I’m disappointed that so many Americans overlook Trump’s incompetence and lack of empathy in handling a global health crisis and decided to reelected him. Now the US is involved in attacking Iran with Israel which may be the potential start of a global fuel crisis. I will never understand the reasoning behind supporting Donald Trump.
My condolences to those that suffered and died during the pandemic. Some people complained about isolation but I actually loved the COVID lockdowns. I was fortunate that my finances were not greatly affected by the pandemic. Staying home, watching TV, reading, cooking, exercising was great. The pandemic lockdown was relaxing and cozy. I think the world should plan another shut down at some point. Shut social media off and limit TV too.
With that said it was six to seven years ago. I’m over it. The world still turns.

Question of the Day 3.18.26 ð
I never got a tattoo because I couldn’t make this decision. I couldn’t decide where to put it or what to get. I don’t know how people make the choice.
