Closure is a Hollywood illusion. In movies, TV shows and books people realize the error of their ways and take action to right their wrongs. They take accountability. Most people try to dodge accountability.
Seeking closure is a fool’s errand. Be honest with yourself about your observations and experiences. Make decisions in your best interest. There are many situations where you will never know the truth.

Most people don’t listen. They gaslight, deflect, defend their actions or make the other party the problem.
If the other party was trustworthy, cared, had respect for you and was actually a friend there probably wouldn’t be a problem in the first place. They’re unlikely to initiate an honest conversation with you about anything meaningful either. They aren’t actually interested in taking responsibility for their actions and they don’t care about anyone else’s feelings.
Seeking closure usually goes more like this.

Happy September Third! – “Temptations”😭🎤🎵🤑
“The Temptations” was a made for TV mini series that aired on NBC in 1998. “The Temptations” is one of my favorite movies. It was great. It’s one of those movies I always watch at least in part when I can catch it on TV. As you can guess it was the story of the Motown group The Temptations. There was a scene in the movie where the group was in the studio recording the song “Papa Was a Rolling Stone”.
The lead on this song had daddy issues. Dad was absent from his life and it was a sore spot for Dennis as an adult. The song writer, Nelson knew this but pretended he didn’t know that September 3 was an emotional trigger for Dennis. The sneaky song writer wanted Dennis to sing with emotion and created tension to get the reaction he wanted. The singer was manipulated into a soulful performance so the set up worked.
Nelson had the best interest of their project at heart and Dennis benefitted from a hit song but. “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” was a hit and R&B and pop culture history was made but Nelson did not care about Dennis as a person. The song’s success was at Dennis’expense.
TV shows like “American Idol”, “Dancing with the Stars” and “America’s Next to Model” do the same thing. Even game shows do it. Contestants are cast because they are easy to manipulate. It’s kind of a pimp game and it’s how cults are established.
Social media thrives on emotional triggers and insecurities. Society, politics and the economy has been affected destabilized because of manipulative emotional triggering. It’s on a massive scale now.
I call “Papa Was a Rolling Stone” the emotional trigger anthem and September 3 is nation Emotional Manipulation Day.

Question of the Day 9.1.26 😔🧳🛬
MCI is the airport in Kansas City where I live. Renovations to MCI were complete in 2023. It looks nice. It’s fresh and modern. I had no complaints about the old MCI but now that the airport is renovated I appreciate the investment. MCI is my favorite airport due to proximity and familiarity. I’ve been to MCI more than I have been to any other airport.
I had a layover in Charlotte, SC years ago. The airport was nice. It looked like it was a new building or recently remodeled. They had an area in front of a large window with rocking chairs. I thought that was cute and I’m sure it’s relaxing for people that will be waiting for a while.
The airport in Newark, NJ is huge and it was hard to get my bearings and a sense of direction. You have to use a train to get around the airport. It’s like a city mass transit system for the airport. There were a lot of helpful and engaging employees around to reassure confused and anxious travelers. Newark Airport has a nice duty free shop but I did not go inside because I can tell from the outside that the merchandise is high end and out of my budget.
I’m not complaining about Newark it’s just big as heck. It’s actually kind of impressive. It reminds me of a self contained city in a futuristic doomsday novel. A bunch of people could live in Newark Airport and never leave and they won’t feel like they’re missing out on anything.
Flyers get a nice view of New York City when flying in or out of Newark. Las Vegas airport offers passengers a nice view of The Strip as they fly in or out. It’s fun to try and get a photo. This is a photo I took of the Las Vegas strip from a plane in 2017.
Reagan Airport in Washington DC has a lot of dark and hectic energy. I talked to an airline employee at their counter to check luggage. That part was fine. Then I turned the corner to go through security. Once I turned that corner it was like I got in line to enter a demonic portal of chaos and confusion with a few hundred other people in a tight, hot area with stressed out security officers yelling commands that no one can hear because it’s too loud. Their security area is kind of hidden from other areas of the airport. I’m sure a lot of people wouldn’t even board the flight after seeing the disarray and bewilderment of …everyone.
TSA threw away yogurt and fruit that I forgot I had in my purse. I was bummed out. Almost every modern problem with this country is a direct result of Ronald and Nancy Reagan’s political policies so it’s fitting that the airport that feels the most like you’re in an intake line for a forced labor camp is named for the president that put the country on a downward spiral.
I went to Athens, Greece in 2023. The Athens airport was small and it was an older building. Older meaning built in the 60s-80s. Old is subjective, especially in a place like Athens. The airport was calm and quiet. The airport employees wore nice uniforms. Airports tend to be a mess starting in the parking lot but the one in Athens didn’t have a lot of traffic. It was relaxed.
For the most part airports are all the same to me and it’s hard to distinguish one from the other. The details are very fine. Airports are more functional so the style plays a distant second and is almost irrelevant. Airports are hell holes so renovations, shops and places to get snacks don’t make a big difference.
It’s nice that the authorities let us keep our shoes on now. Yup, here I am grateful I’m allowed to keep my shoes on in public after taking them off and walking through the airport with no shoes on in public for about twenty five years. I think the change was made for World Cup travelers and the rest of us will benefit.
A private jet would be well worth the money. I understand why people use them even though they are destroying the environment. I would like to think I would make the choice that benefits the Earth if I had the choice but I don’t really know because I really do not enjoy airports.
I think cities should build more smaller airports as opposed to one or two huge ones in each metro area. That would make air traffic control more challenging but I believe they are smart and will figure it out. Have smaller airports all around like Walmarts so no one has to deal with a 100,000 people at the same time milling about like an ant farm. I like going places and walking around and doing things but I don’t like actually travelling.

Country is not my favorite genre of music but I like some songs. In memory of Dolly Parton here are some country songs I enjoy.
Ella Langley
Ella Langley is a current chart topping artist. “Choosing Texas” is #1 on the billboard chart as I write this. Ella’s music is a throwback to country music from years past. Ella is likeable. She is gritty and tragic at the same time. “Choosing Texas” is a classic country you done me wrong song which seem to be Ella’s specialty. She’s true to country.
Carrie Underwood
I forgot to put this on my list of videos that are cinematic triumphs. “Before He Cheats” features “American Idol” winner Carrie Underwood getting mad at her boyfriend and his new flame. She goes to the party district in her town to look for them. She gets so upset that she starts levitating and telepathically tearing up the street. She proceeds to tear up his car.
There was a weekly local singing show in Kansas City that broadcast from a casino years ago. A woman sang this song every Saturday night so I learned the words.
This is not the show but it had the same vibe. Women love this song.
Gretchen Wilson
I can’t exactly say I relate to this song. I have never been on a four wheeler and it’s unlikely I ever will. I do not keep my Christmas lights up all year long. I don’t like mud. “Redneck Woman” is catchy as heck though. Here’s to all my sisters that’s keeping it country…🍻
Luke Combs
Tracy Chapman is one of my favorite artists. That’s a whole different blog post. One of my biggest life regrets is not going to see Tracy in concert in the next town over when I was in college. I thought I woulde able to see her a different time. I’m not sure she ever performed anywhere near me again. Luke Combs made a solid cover of legendary folk song “Fast Car”. He should make a cover of “Baby Can I Hold You” too. I always thought that would be a good country song.

Beyonce deserves to be included. “Cowboy Carter” is a huge success. She did not deserve the criticism she received surrounding “Cowboy Carter”.

RIP Dolly Parton 💐🕊 💅- Relatable Songs 🎵
Country singer, philanthropist, nice person, consummate professional and baddie to her last breath died last week at eighty years old. Dolly was liked world wide and no one…anywhere…on planet earth and beyond has anything bad to say about her.
Dolly wrote and performed “9 to 5” for the movie by the same title. “9 to 5” is the most relatable song written in the last fifty years possibly ever. Everyone has to make a living. I’ve had about three dozen jobs in my life. “9 to 5” is the proletariat battle cry for everyone that has clocked a shift in the American workforce.
Dolly Parton was from a poor background and had a soft spot for working class people. Dolly Parton understood hard work. By all accounts her success was gained honestly and with integrity. Dolly understood the value of a dollar. Dolly Parton was a literacy advocate and encouraged millions of children to read through her program that delivered books to children. Dolly created job opportunities in her native Appalachian Tennessee. It seems that everything she did was solid including her marriage that lasted a lifetime.
She cheered for the under dogs that grind it out every day. “9 to 5” makes me feel seen. Dolly was awesome. RIP country queen.
Gloria Gaynor is a close second to Dolly Parton for most relatable song. These songs debuted two years apart. Who can’t relate to “I Will Survive”? Gloria Gaynor wrote the universal theme for resilience after romantic rejection.
Detroit’s very own, Big Sean wrote “I Don’t —- With You”. This direct, no nonsense, crass song is about a break up but I like how it can be applied to any situation and/or person. The chorus is pure gold. “I Don’t —- With You” is simple and blunt and can relate to former friends and acquaintances, former employers, relatives to be kept at arms length, entire cities and geographic regions, places that gave bad customer service, schools I graduated from, celebrities, sports franchises, political parties, social movements, things that are weird (not in a cute quirky way but in a scammy, creepy way), social media platforms, industries, hobbies and personal habits in which I no longer participate. This song can be linked to absolutely anything that deserves it.
Big Sean wrote a song to accompany personal growth, putting the past behind you being grateful for the present and looking forward to the future while seeking out new opportunities. This song can be applied to present circumstances as far as setting boundaries and standards. This song is empowering and borderline spiritual. Excuse the language. I try to keep this blog clean and this is the cleanest version I could find.
